The churches here were huge - the largest we saw anywhere on the island - and very grand indeed. The temporary shack-like buildings here are due to the fact that we were here just after the city's annual festival. These festivals seemed to involve a long religious procession, a profusion of flower petals, followed by fireworks and copious drinking!
