 Furnas Lake from the church of San Jose. Lagoa das Furnas, east of Sao Miguel, Azores The lake at Furnas is warm, calm and tranquil; surrounded by a circle of forested mountains. At the south of the lake, you can picnic under the trees or swim in the warm waters. Horse riding is advertised here too, though we didn't see any actual evidence, other than a sign. We even drove right up to the gates of the establishment, but all was very closed and unwelcoming, so we gave up. The beautiful church of Jose do Canto, is no longer used, but provides a gorgeous, picturesque scene.MORE... |
