Beach at Mosteiros, north west Sao Miguel, Azores As you can see, the beach here is quite gritty, rather than sandy and on the day we were there it was fairly windy. I can't imagine it being anything else, really. Mosteiros is right up on the north western tip of Sao Miguel, so I would imagine it gets more than its fair share of wind. Can you believe that this was taken in peak season? Right at the end of July 2008. No tourists, just us and the life guard. Pretty isn't it?.
