 Praca da Republica Ponta Delgada, Sao Miguel, Azores Unfortunately, we were here in the capital city of Sao Miguel, on the only wet day of our visit (last week of July, 2008). So the much praised architecture didn't shine out against a backdrop of azure blue skies. It was just a bit damp and grey. You can see that the Republic Square faces the sea to the south and is surrounded by cafes and narrow, pedestrianised, cobbled streets. Everywhere we went in the city semed to lead us back to this square, where there is also a large tourist office.MORE... |
