View to Lagoa do Fogo You have just got to see this place. It is spectacular. All the more so for the lack of people there. A few other brave souls left the beach to explore the mountain roads, loke us and we all were well rewarded for our endeavours.


This shot is taken from just over the summit. Our route had been in and out of clouds all the way so it was real treat when they lifted for a moment to reveal a view like this. Buzzards soared in and out of the mist, birdsong filled the air. We shivered in our shorts and vest tops and had to search for a fleece top to keep out the cold. Elsewhere, other intrepid tourists wrapped themselves in their beach towels to keep warm. But it was FANTASTIC!
