Caldeiras de Velha, central area, Sao Miguel, Azores Now this place is well worth a visit. Have you ever had a shower in a waterfall in a tropical wooded glen? This place was amazing. Huge tree ferns and lush, exotic vegetation grew in profusion all around this steep river valley.



There is a little gravel path along the brook to a woodland glen where a hot waterfall plummets down a steep drop. There are other little waterfalls and rushing streams along the valley. The vegetation and hot steaming atmosphere make you feel as though you have just stepped onto the set of Jurassic Park.
